Guanacaste’s dry season (roughly December to April) brings reliably sunny days, which is why it is a favourite first trip. The coast is a string of very different towns: Playas del Coco and the Papagayo bays are close to the airport and sheltered; Tamarindo is busy and walkable; Sámara and Nosara are quieter and further south.
